Be prepared for prices that range from $350,000.00 up to the luxurious $20,000,000.00. So set your mind on how much you want to spend, then start collecting information on what your choices are for the money you’re spending.
When you’re looking at homes in Maui, don’t get discouraged if you find that most of them are over priced. If you’re not in a hurry to buy wait it out. It will either sell or perhaps the next time you look you’ll find it can’t sell for what the seller is asking, which eventually will lead to a lower price in order to sell. If you look at a home and it is not presentable, walk away. This will tell you immediately that the homeowners have not taken care of their property and you could really end up with a lemon.
Don’t put up with pushy realtors. Take your time and make sure what you see is what you want and that it is worth the money you will be putting out for it. Look at a wide variety before you decide so that you have a good idea of what you want to end up with. Make sure it’s in a good location and that you have easy access to the beach. After all, that is a big part of the reason you’re moving here. To be able to walk out on the beach in the morning and watch the sunrise is worth what you pay to get there.
